You’ve heard them before, right? You know the exact lies the narcissist is capable of, but I wonder if you know them all.
I came up with 6, and they fit the mold of every narcissist you have ever met in your life. They lie to their wives because they don’t care about honesty being the best policy.
More than that, these toxic men don’t care about being open because what they may really be hiding can potentially be more horrifying than Halloween.
The way they lie makes you feel crazy.
Where was the narcissist? Who knows. But here is where they will tell you they were.

1“I already told you. Don’t you ever listen?”

Yes, you do listen. You’d certainly remember being told the narcissist was at work, but here’s the trick:
He lies and convinces you that he told you something he didn’t tell you, then he makes you feel crazy for not remembering it.
How does that work?
Pretty easily, actually. For as long as I can remember, I’ve been told by clients that they started to believe the narcissist in their life over the years, even though they can categorically not remember being told certain things.
Essentially, this means you have somewhere along the way learned to gaslight yourself, which is incredibly distressing for people.
This work lie is one that most narcissists use because who wants to mess with work? He stares at you as if you’ve lost the plot, and he knows this look of confusion is enough to convince you that you’ve made the error, not him.
Rewriting history doesn’t make what originally happened go away, but if you are confused, you’re compliant.
That’s what he’s hoping for.
“I told you last Thursday right as we were making coffee in the morning.”

The more specific, the more likely you are to believe him over your own memory.
2“I was out with a group of coworkers. You’ve never met them”

Oh, how convenient is that? You never met these people, so you can’t be sure that any of what they’re saying is true at all.
It’s vague, right? But for him, he’s loving every minute of this. If you look closely, you’ll see this one never seems to come with any names or details you could follow up on if that’s what you wanted to do.
“Just some guys from the office.” “Some reps came to town from the city and we took advantage of catching up.”
He acts like it shouldn’t matter to you, but if the table was flipped, he would be crawling all over you for specific details, and he wouldn’t let it drop until he got what he wanted.

He makes sure you can’t follow up on anything because he doesn’t want you to find out where he actually was, and who he was really with.
It’s unsettling to even write this stuff, let alone be someone, like you, who has had to experience it.
3“My phone ran out of juice, so I couldn’t call”

The phone!
We all love our phones, don’t we? The battery is the worst yet most common excuse for narcissists to use, and it works every time!
“My phone ran out. I couldn’t let you know.” “It died while I was leaving the office.”
Who does that, honestly? And with technology and cables the way they are, there’s always a way to say your battery is low, or make sure you have what you need to charge your phone if you need to.
No husband should be leaving their wife at home wondering where they are, and being unable to contact them.
Plus you know his phone is always on him, and you’ve seen him obsess over charging it at home.
At the exact moment you need him, it’s flat.

Funny that, isn’t it?
4“I completely lost track of what time it was”

Right.
The hours pass, just like that, and the narcissist wonders how that happened.
I’d say it was because they’re kidding themselves, and lying to you that they had no care in the world about time at all.
You get the eye roll.
“I was just out. I don’t keep track of time.”
Like it’s your problem, every single time.
The problem for you is that you don’t want to make a fuss; you don’t like to look unreasonable because it goes against being loved.
You don’t want to come across as suspicious, and you hate that you have become a person who watches the time ticking by and waits to hear from them, but this is what the narcissist makes you because they don’t want to be honest about where they really have been.
Nobody loses track of time on a regular basis to the point where they’re hours late home.
5“You’re always keeping tabs on me, aren’t you?”

That’s exactly what the narcissist wants you to think about why you’re asking where they’ve been.
It was all you wanted to know.
“When will you be home?”
You want to make dinner. You have plans. The narcissist isn’t answering their texts. It shouldn’t be that you have a partner who never keeps you updated about what they’re doing, leaving you at home just waiting for when they next decide to drop by.

“I don’t tell you where I am because I never stop hearing from you.”
No…
You ask because it can be a whole day without hearing from them, and by the time they stroll in at ten to midnight, you’re supposed to smile and make them a hot chocolate.
It doesn’t work that way.
Narcissists will make you feel guilty for even asking where they are, and the way they react to your questions causes you to retreat and not bother asking at all.
For them, that’s perfect. They can get away with whatever they want and you don’t say a word about it.
6“I was just helping a friend. Why bother you with it?”

Oh yes, there the narcissist is, trying their best to come across as a fine, upstanding citizen. They were helping someone, so you don’t get a chance to accuse them, or ask them for an explanation, as what they’ve said should be enough.
The narcissist is saying, “I was being a good friend. Why on earth would you question that?”
You don’t question it any more.

Again, we have a situation here where the narcissist wins based on what they want you to think, and how quiet they want you to be.
The narcissist is anything but selfless here though, and when you start digging for “which friend,” they will give you nothing back.
“I can’t believe you’re turning a good thing into something so suspicious.”
Just like that, the conversation is over and you don’t get a chance to find out whatever the truth is under all the lies you’ve been fed.
You’re supposed to just be quiet, and that’s what hurts people the most.
He met you a liar, and he will lie all throughout the rest of his time with you.
