These Are The Most Annoying Sitcom Characters of All Time

At the end of the day, a lot of us like to kick back with a glass or cup of our favorite drink, and laugh the negativity away.

For me, sitcoms offer a dose of nostalgia that acts as pure timelessness.

But then – they appear, don’t they? The really annoying characters we all wish we could mute, delete, or both!

I wonder if you have any. If you do, I’d bet they made this list!

1. Janice Litman-Goralnik from Friends

Oh. My. God!

Are you even remotely surprised that Miss Janis made the list? Well known for being the overly-nasal ex girlfriend of the iconic Chandler Bing, Janis is long known to annoy viewers with her, well, everything.

If you can hear her without hearing her like I can, then you’re bound to agree!

2. Kimmy Gibbler from Full House

Kimmy was a character who was supposed to be funny, and maybe a few of you out there thought she was.

For the most part, she served to be nothing but annoying. As quirky as she tried to be, it just never quite worked.

Nobody asked for this side order of obnoxiousness!

3. Screech from Saved by the Bell

In the early days, there was a slight comic relief from Screech. Cute to many, he offered a different dimension to his character than the others cast.

As time went on, it became less cute  and more annoying. Screech whined and became more awkward, and I don’t think SBTB fans appreciated it.

We wanted less cringe and more charm – and we didn’t get it.

4. Steve Urkel from Family Matters

Iconic? I think we’d all agree he is just that. But the whiny voice? That snorty laugh that just will not quit? The clumsy behavior? Come on.

It’s just too much, and it puts a real dent in what is otherwise a pretty lighthearted, fun show.

I lost track of how many times I rolled my eyes every time he appeared on screen.

5. Ross Geller from Friends

Did anybody else get invited to Ross Gellar’s pity party? No?

That’s because nobody else was invited – it was just for Ross!

The unnecessary drama, the constant we were on a break followed by insane jealousy of Rachel every time she went near another man…

No. Just no. He was annoying.

6. Fran Fine from The Nanny

The voice …

Yep. You either loved it, or hated it. For me personally it was the latter, I know a bunch of you will agree.

7. Andy Bernard from The U.S. Office

“Nard Dog.” I know he was made to be funny, but all he ended up being was a big old ball of insecurity. And the singing? Talk about awkward! People learned to despise his self-importance.

And quite right, too.

8. J.D. from Scrubs

He started off so lovable, didn’t he? People really enjoyed watching his character, until one day, they didn’t.

The inner monologues became too much, and so did his ‘child stuck in an adult body’ attitude.

9. Meg Griffin from Family Guy

Everybody can’t stand her – not just the audience of Family Guy!

10. Marie Barone from Everybody Loves Raymond

Nobody likes a meddler! Marie was constant, as was her passive-aggressiveness. It became too much, too soon, and it ruined what was otherwise a great sitcom.

11. Karen Walker from Will & Grace

Do you want to block your ears at just the mere mention of Karen’s name? I know I do!

While some people loved her, for most, it was a great big no.

The insults. The rudeness. The alcohol – it was all too much when blended together.

12. Nellie Bertram from The U.S. Office

A late addition to the show, and I know a lot of viewers were pleased with that because if she’d been in it sooner, there would have been fast dwindling audiences.

She wasn’t quirky, she was pathetic.

13. Geoffrey Butler from The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air

Yes, he could be sarcastically funny at times, but I don’t believe for one second that this made up for how snobby he was.

It wasn’t comedy to many. Instead, it was just a dry and unlikeable character thrust into an otherwise really good show.

14. Michael Scott from The U.S. Office

Hear me out! This is only through the latest seasons, and I know you know what I mean.

Michael used to be so funny, but as time went on, those later seasons only revealed true incompetence and even more social awkwardness than you can shake a stick at.

Unbearable, I think you will agree!

15. Jess Day from New Girl

Fun at first, wasn’t she? Jess was quirky, and everybody loved her. She was fun, cute and almost adorable.

But the reminder that she is an adult quickly shone through, and the excessive ways they tried to sell her quirk became pretty tiresome.

Not for me.

16. Phoebe Buffay from Friends

Unpopular opinion! Whenever the mention of Friends comes up, Phoebe’s name is mentioned.

Why?

I think her offbeat humor and stories just never really found their place within the show all the time. That made episodes feel derailed as they tried to write in the comedy of Phoebe that just didn’t always work out.

17. Ann Perkins from Parks and Recreation

The entire cast of Parks and Recreation were hilarious, but the one who seemed to always make the bottom of that pile, was Ann Perkins.

For that reason, Ann was forgettable. She didn’t stand out. If you could picture a plain vanilla cake surrounded by double chocolate fudge cakes, that would be the best comparison.

She was the one reason a lot of people could never fully take to the show at all.

18. Jackie Burkhart from That ‘70s Show

Sure, Jackie had her moments. She could even make people laugh out loud, and rightly so. The writers were amazing, but they failed to just push that spoiled, bratty attitude out of the way for long enough to tolerate an entire episode being watchable.

I know it might be an unpopular opinion to some, but for the majority, you all hear me, I know it.

19. Sheldon Cooper from The Big Bang Theory

Sheldon was brilliant, wasn’t he? But while he wasn’t being brilliant, he had this whole other side to him. He wasn’t even close to being socially aware, and his arrogance would lose the storyline at times due to it being so dominating.

He was certainly tough to tolerate at times, and became an annoying addition to a great show.
